A little about CCB . . .
Cycling Club Breckland was formed in 1975 – it takes its name from the Breckland area of South-west Norfolk – originally an area of light sandy soil, heath and the native Scots Pine, but now much of this area is covered by Thetford Forest.
The club holds activities over a wide area of Norfolk, and has weekly club meetings at Shipdham United Reform Church Hall – between Dereham and Watton, starting about 20:00.
Sunday clubruns leave Dereham Market Place near the War Memorial at 9:00 for a ride of approximately 50 miles at 15-16 mph.
Cycling Club Breckland is not sponsored, but is a sponsor of East Anglian Children's Hospices (EACH). The very popular 'Ride for Life' organised with Eastern Counties Newspapers, for EACH, is based at Santon Downham in the heart of the Thetford Forest. Cycling Club Breckland is indeed lucky to be situated surrounded by so much excellent cycling country.
A full calendar of time trials is promoted. And even for the less talented the cakes are always of the highest order. In this field of sporting cycling the club has achieved considerable success, holding at various times a number of National Championships and Records.

Latest from Will
I have heard from Will Dorsett on Facebook, He is trying to get out when he can now that he is home from 8 days in hospital. He has had his broken wrist fixed with metal plates and pins. He has two fractured vertebrae in his neck, which it is hoped will mend without the need for an operation. He is in a neck-brace for the at least the next 6 weeks. Will also has a fractured knee that makes walking difficult.
Will says that it could be much worse though!!!! Could also have been better!
We all wish you a good recovery Will and look forward to seeing you around.

AGM Saunders
Anonymous writes "I agree with Rodney. I entered Norwich Tri & had to help on Saturday before (registration), or supply a helper on the day.
Ideas for discussion to go with above.
Increase membership, do the same as Newmarket CC & affiliate to Tri. This will bring in runners swimmers & cyclists. More helpers, more youngsters, more parents. We are all of the same spirit. Five club members cross train now.
Increase membership cost & negotiate for new clubroom ( move forward ). Dereham leisure centre would have been ideal. Gym, swim pool, meeting room, car park, cafe, bar a place to bring in new members & run events from. Lack of support (turn out) at last years AGM killed that idea.
Sponsors: Tri anglia has three sponsors, Tri shop, Pilch,s & Pedal Revolution I have saved double my membership. Before we order new kit should we discuss. This again will bring in new members.
Helpers will always be difficult the World has changed. But I think the above will increase membership, cash flow & the number of people willing to HELP ?.
Please join in debate

The Saunders Family
Anonymous writes "I read with interest the thread re the Saunders Family are exhausted! There can't be a single member of CCB that does not realise that Don and Heather and the rest of the clan do more than their fair share of work for the club, as did Albert and Margaret before them. I therefore propose that every member regardless of age or gender is given a responsibility each year, whether they are racing member or not, Their duty will have to be carried out for the whole year, So if you ride in a club event or open event run by CCB and your job for the year is to collect the signs, you go and collect the signs (simples). We all have cars, how long does it take to drive round and collect the signs, or help with teas. Whatever the job If we do not help Don and his family we will be the long term losers. Like wise if you are the organiser of a club open event it will be your job to recruit the necessary helpers and not rely on the Saunders family to recruit or clear up after the event.
You might not like this but if you do not accept it then you may not have a CCB in the future.
Rodney"

The Saunders Family are Exhausted!
Club night every Tuesday,
Club events every Wednesday, including putting out and collecting signs.
Doing the signage for practically all the CCB open events, marshalling, refreshments, promoting the 12 hr -
The list goes on and on.
Although appreciating the help we do receive, we can't carry on for 2011 without other club members chipping in and helping.
Are there any suggestions from club member on how we can do different in 2011?
